Needless to say but: I'm totally in love with this region of Sweden. I've never been there before and was really excited to discover it. My dear friends Our Foodstories and I spent a few perfect days in Skåne and also in the city Malmö. We enjoyed the magical nature, strolled through the streets, explored nice shops and restaurants. The first three days we decided to see beautiful, calm and magical landscape and areas of Skåne. We stayed at a beautiful Airbnb house, which was close to a forest. In the morning I heard the wind whistle and birds sing - pure nature. It was a dreamy place with it's huge garden.
Our first stop was the chocolate factory Österlen Choklad Fabrik. it is definitely scored in my top five of the best chocolate I've ever tasted so far. I did enjoy every bite of it. Later that week we went back to buy more and bring some back home. I also bought cacao to enjoy it for some time longer when I’m back home! It's a must go place.
We discovered a really nice Creperie called Franskans Crêperie in Rörum. There is a cute garden with charming tables and decorations and inside you can find a huge room which used to be a schoolhouse. They've got such nice vintage furniture in there and the Crêpes & Galettes were so delicious. We decided to go for sweet & savory and coffee in the afternoon. You can watch them prepare the food while waiting. I think it's always nice to have a sneak peek in the kitchen and to actually see how everything gets done.
The other day we wanted to explore more of the countryside and the sea. The light that day was breathtaking and perfect for a picnic. So we decided to buy some cheese and drinks in Simrishamn and go straight back to that magical place where we could enjoy our small gathering. The sun was about to set and the field was filled with a light which left us speechless. It was the best spot to enjoy the calmness! Right next to that place was a path which led us directly to the sea. We were already astonished by the magenta colored sky and the blueish water, but when we arrived at the sea we just had the most beautiful view - plus the reflection of the moon on the water. It was such a dreamy image and fortunately still bright enough to capture it. We totally forgot about time. When we checked the time it was already 10.30 pm and there was still so much light. Such a blessing for photographers like us!
The next day we visited a really nice place where you can get lost so easily because you've got all you need in one place. It's Mellby Klockar Gård. A restaurant in a glasshouse and next to it they’ve built their own shop where you can buy little treasures or clothes. Plus in the backyard a beautiful greenhouse where you can relax and enjoy your coffee as we of course did. We later found out that you can even rent a house there and enjoy your stay at this beautiful place.
We thought it would be great to catch the daylight at the sea in Stenhuvuds Nationalpark - since we saw the sea only in the late evening. So we brought some local juice called "Kivik" and fruits and went straight to the sea to have a small picnic again. The water was so smooth and still, the best way to clear your mind and breath fresh air.
It was my first time in Malmö and we explored some really nice spots during the week. This city is what I call charming: not too big but not too small either- there are beautiful, colorful houses and you can really feel the warm atmosphere in the city. The people in Malmö do care about details for sure - it’s nice to see flowers and plants everywhere, especially in front of the every houses door.
We found a cute vintage store Butik Fabrik with all the small things to make your home cozier. I always try to not look too closely because I know that I don’t have enough space left in my suitcase, which always is such a pity! Not far from that place there was this super nice flower shop, where Nora & Laura bought beautiful plants. I could have spent forever in this shop, but we already had a reservation in the restaurant Mineral, which you can see when you scroll down. It’s the same owner from the Butik Fabrik and I have to say again: it’s a mesmerizing restaurant. The interior is on point and the food is just delicious. They offer a small menue but what they serve they do with love and the styling of the food was so delightful. What a charming spot Laura discovered! I also treated myself with a glass of wine (I’m a big wine lover) and enjoyed the evening sun which was shining trough the windows. After that we had a nice walk in the park with the dogs and decided to come back here and enjoy a picnic the day after.
So the next day we thought it would be a great idea to have breakfast in a coffeeshop. We went to this place called Atrium. It had such a relaxing atmosphere, I can’t tell why - was it the brightness in there which created the relaxing mood? I can’t say. It has high ceilings and big windows, so the light came all through the shop. We were also pretty lucky because it was shiny all week. I had my first iced-coffee this year right there in Malmö and enjoyed the sunbeams while siping on my coffee.
We went to visit another place since all three of us are pretty much on the same level when it comes to our coffee addiction! So we ordered some coffee to go at Jord and decided to have one more picnic in the city park since it was 26 degrees outside. We found this nice spot with this beautiful view!
I must say, I was so relaxed and happy after this week in Skane and Malmö and I can’t wait to come back soon.
